List Linux program you use that you feel need some help or love.

I just discovered Pencil, which seems like an interresting program, but the last update seems to be from 2008. I have the same issue with Dia.
I'm hoping that by making these projects known here, maybe other developers will contact the original developers and assist in active development.
Some of these programs are too nice to let them fizzle out.
just add to the list.

• freemind (the version in the repos is 7, while the version on their site is 9.0X Beta).

which replaced good old kaffeine 0.8.8
and seems to be buggy,slow,pre-alpha.

Last stable release was Dec 2nd, 2006.

For some reasons, this apps has been causing hard crash on my PC. When it crashed, it took down everything. Sometimes the PC just locked up, sometimes the PC shut-off abruptly and the power LED flashed yellow-blue.

I suspect it could be related to some incompatibility with nvidia chipset or graphic driver.

I am forced to stop displaying any pictures in the apps itself, but only use the very useful features of finding duplicate photos.

opensync in combination with symcml and evolutions sync.
It used to work, syncing symbian phones to evolution very well, and then it stopped about the time of the Karmic release. There doesn't seem to be much happening to fix it.

xine backend and ui, it seems like it's not getting much attention even though there are tons of frontends.

it's a kde backend to phonon.

*networkmanager: it's always buggy and barely works out of the box if you need to setup anything other than the default "auto dhcp" option.
*openoffice: IMHO it needs major overhaul in almost every aspect. starting with the use of a more mature x-platform GUI library like QT.
*radeonhd, nouveau, gallium3d: they always need more help. huge projects.
*evolution: it seems like no one cares about evolution anymore. from what I experienced it needs serious speed optimizations.

I'm completely with you! Kaffeine 1.0-whatever is completely worthless and useless! It makes me so pissed they have destroyed it.

Kaffeine 0.8.8 works good but it lacks some features, like teletext (yes, most of our dvb channels in sweden have teletext) and support for mpeg4 over dvb.

We should make our own fork out of 0.8.8 and continue to develope it!
