    tomato v dd-wrt

    hi I want to put tomato or dd-wrt on a Linksys 54GL behind a vigor 100 am I better off posting in absolute beginners or networking and wireless.I have very little knowledge of command line etc. and am terrified of bricking it.

    You'll probably get the most useful answer about the distros tomato and dd-wrt asking on one of their user forums like the Broadband/DSL Reports Forums, LinksysInfo Forums, or OpenLinksys Forums. While some at the Ubuntu forum might be into those, too, the focus is on Ubuntu and that is too big to fit into a DrayTek Vigor 100 ADSL modem.


    As far as the shell goes, one reason for 'fear' is that one vendor without the shell has spent a lot of time and resources disparaging it as the 'command line'. You might have an easier time of it call it the shell and almost certainly will have an easier time learning if it is approached as scripting or programming.
