    Angry Arghh...Dont make me install windows, please!

    So, here it is. Skype+Logitech Quickcam=no video. Lsusb shows webcam, other linux apps can use it, but skype cant. i checked in the skype>options and made sure to set vid settings correct, turned on, etc. im running KK, this is my first adventure into linux in 13years. please help, i really was enjoying being microsoft free.

    There are a TON of quickcam models. what is yours?

    Also, did you check this?

    open a terminal type ( gstreamer-properties ) click enter
    click video try v4l1 or v4l2
    now get a program to use it with
    is a lot of programs to use a webcam with

    cheese wxcam xawtv to name a few


    just think

    to use windows
    open 2 doors
    1 to bring in new computer
    2 to get rid of old computer
    all windows to get rid of all the disk you paid for enjoy

    If you find the webcam works in Cheese, then follow this tutorial for Skype
    If the only reason you think your software is better is because it's FOSS, you need to write better software

    I have had a problem with Karmic not recognizing my Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks Pro.

    It has worked flawlessly in previous releases.

    I have discovered if you plug-in the camera before booting-up my PC it works fine.

    May be worth you trying the same if you haven't previously done so.

    I realize that this is just a work-around, but it may suffice, until a permanent fix comes out.
