I found this on the Debian Wiki:

    http://wiki.debian.org/SynapticsTouchpad

You have to delete the psmouse.modprobe file from /etc/modprobe.d/ if you used the psmouse kludge before, then create the 99-synaptics.rules file and fill in the above text and reboot. For me it got left and right mouse clicks working and also right hand edge scrolling, nice!

There is a whole section in the Ubuntu docs about setting this up here:

    http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/...naptics.4.html

Maybe we can have a play around and improve on the Debian file?
I didn't make either change. I used to have the issue (no right/left click, only tapping), but recent updates seem to have fixed that. Is it possible that is what fixed your issue and not that file?

Anyone know what that little hole at the top left of the touchpad is? I think it's a light saying the touchpad is on or off, but thats just a guess.

OMG - I'm not afraid to type anymore on my 210... this is a dream come true. THANK YOU!

    to delete the modprobe ..

sudo nautilus <in terminal> then delete the file in the above mentioned location.

also sudo gedit the Rules file.

I was able to type that whole thing without the mouse moving everywhere . YOU ARE A GOD. I read that they had implemented the new synaptic drivers, but didn't know how to use them.

Thanks a million, works perfectly on my Mini 210.

    If anyone's having issues with this, make sure you delete the psmouse.modprobe file as discussed in this thread. Once I did that everything worked perfectly;

( Cheers to "Tempted" for the below line on how to do this, also in this thread ):

"sudo nautilus <in terminal> then delete the file in the above mentioned location."

Re: HP Mini 210 touchpad right click not working

    Does not work

I get this when I patch

    patching file drivers/input/mouse/synaptics.c
Hunk #1 succeeded at 365 with fuzz 2 (offset 38 lines).
Hunk #2 succeeded at 487 with fuzz 2 (offset 41 lines).
Hunk #3 succeeded at 784 with fuzz 2 (offset 41 lines).
    patching file drivers/input/mouse/synaptics.h
Reversed (or previously applied) patch detected! Assume -R? [n]

saying yes or no will lead to errors during ''make''

    make -C /lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/build SUBDIRS=/home/dany/linux-source-2.6.32/drivers/input/mouse modules
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/build: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type. Arrêt.
    make: *** [default] Erreur 2

    sorry for the french :-O

Are you doing this on 10.04? cause you shouldn't need to. the touchpad works OOTB in 10.04
