Re: Removing A Full Install of Ubuntu 9.10 [ERROR]

There isn't a 'Repair' option. When I insert the DVD, it loads a dialogue with 'Install Now' as an olny button.

Re: Removing A Full Install of Ubuntu 9.10

Thanks for the EHOW link, but there isn't a BOOT in step 4? The SEVENFORUMS is on my TO-DO list.

    And the Terminal command answers:

    Code:
    Disk /dev/sda: 250.1 GB, 250059350016 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 30401 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0xf9e628ad

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/sda1 1 995 7990272 27 Unknown
    /dev/sda2 * 995 1008 102400 7 HPFS/NTFS
Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary.
    /dev/sda3 1008 17164 129770586 7 HPFS/NTFS
    /dev/sda4 17165 30401 106326202+ 5 Extended
    /dev/sda5 17165 29857 101956491 83 Linux
    /dev/sda6 29858 30401 4369648+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
I have no idea what that means, so I hope you will.

I didn't get any disk with my Sony Vaio laptop.
It came with Windows 7 installed. I bought brand new from BestBuy.
Was I supposed to get some disks?

Thanks michy99 for linking to my Tutorial!

In the above Tutorial, I had to use the command: bootsect /nt60 SYS /mbr
to replace the Grub boot loader with the Windows one. The Tutorial has been updated. One can use either the Install DVD or you can have 7 create a "System Repair" CD:

I hate to see someone remove their Ubuntu from their computer, I think Ubuntu is the best Linux out there. I am moving from 9.04 to 9.10 at the moment.

    Cheers!

    Download this.

    http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/window...-repair-discs/

OR use windows 7 to create a windows repair disc.(I would do this)(It works better)
