    device support (general question)

    hi,
Last week I was playing with this device called
USBasp. Normally if I were to use this device on a
windows system, I need to install it's driver(obviously).
But when i plugged this into my ubuntu system, I was more
than happy to see that it actually works without any extra
    driver installation!!.

Now, this is not a very common device.Did ubuntu actually
come with it's driver or is there something else going on?!

    regards,
    vamsi

I am not so surprised... in Windows you have to install drivers for almost anything (even just a keyboard) while on Ubuntu either they just work when you plug them in or there isn't support yet, but I can't recall installing drivers on Ubuntu with the exception of nvidia ones...

What does the USBasp do by the way?

    hi,
    sorry for my late reply.
I do not know if you are familiar with microcontrollers..
but ,USBasp is used to program Atmega microcontrollers.
