Do you mean Firefox, Thunderbird, Seamonkey, Lightning, Sunbird, etc......

can you paste the exact text of the error message you get, along with a detailed description of /when/ it happens?

further questions: what version of firefox, what version of ubuntu, is the update you mention from the official ubuntu repositories or from elsewhere?

Go to System> Admin.> Synaptic> Edit> Fix broken packages.
