Running Ubuntu 9.10, AMD64. Whenever I attempt to enable the fglrx driver I get a black screen on next boot when X begins. Do not know why because A) I'm a n00b, and B) I'm a n00b to Linux. However following the RadeonHD instructions and using the 2.6.32 RC8 Kernel with xorg edgers I am able to use the radeonhd driver and that works reasonably well but is still a bit crashy in 3d games - perhaps the driver perhaps something else. This post is mainly to request an expected timeline for this issue to be resolved, I've read of very similar issues elsewhere with no resolution. Does anyone know exactly which factors are mainly responsible? Will Lucid Lynx be when I should hope to be able to use both fglrx and an Ati 2600HD at the same time?
