Just picked up a Latitude E4300 lease return. Running Debian Wheezy perfectly.

    1. Dell Latitude E6420; Intel Core i7; Nvidia Optimus, 4Gb RAM (upped to 8Gb); originally came with W7 Pro 32-bit (??!) preinstalled, later replaced with 64-bit; now experimenting with Mint 13 Cinnamon.

    2. Dell Inspiron N4050, Intel Core i3; Radeon, 4Gb RAM; originally came with Ubuntu 10.10 preinstalled; ran W7 Pro 64-bit for a few weeks after having run into a wireless problem (long-ish story); now experimenting with Ubuntu 12.04.

I am installing Xubuntu 12.04 LTS on a Dell Dimension 2400 I got for free. I have bumped the ram from 512 MB to 1.5 GB, and installed an ethernet PCI card since the onboard wasn't working (at least not under Windows XP).

Re: What DELL model do you have?

Fresh from my success on the Dell 2400 I was given a Dell B110 box (the one with the Pentium 4 HT) and I installed Xubuntu 12.04 LTS on that one, too. Anyone doing this I have some suggestions, such as don't try to install the updates at the same time, and for some reason don't check the box to encrypt your folder or it'll hang up on creating user.

This thing only has 512 MB. I think I am going to bump it up to 2 GB RAM.

Question Re: What DELL model do you have?

Inspiron 7720 (17R SE) - brand new and I just finished a clean W8 install onto 256G Crucial M4 mSATA card - and have a 40GB unformatted partition just waiting for a Linux distro. Which one - that is the question!

I guess there is no way to get an ISO of the "official" DELL distro for this machine?
