Whenever I use my "volume" key, the brightness also changes.
I noticed this after doing a clean reinstall of Karmic.
I currently have eee-control installed.
Does anyone have any idea on why this is happening? or where to look?

It's strange because it's the "louder" "quieter" and "mute" buttons, and they all make it brighter. They also affect volume... It's like each is mapped to it's function, but also "brighten screen".
