Unable to save playlist with VLC-1.0.2

I am running VLC release 1.0.2 and I am unable to save a playlist. Does anyone else have this problem and/or know of a fix?

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install qt4-qtconfig
Then go to System -> Preferences -> Qt 4 Settings and for the gui pick something other than default or GTK+. (Cleanlooks works well - save on way out

    No joy .

I am upgrading to VLC-1.0.3 and will try that and see if it's fixed. According to launch pad, this bug is supposed to be fixed.

    I use 1.1 and 1.0.4 (have 1.0.3

As I remember (and can see now in 1.1), if you're saving a playlist to file you still can't use the default (gtk+) gui.

How did you install vlc-1.1? Perhaps you meant 1.0.1?

    How did you install vlc-1.1
You have to build it. It has some interesting new features, can be up and down as far as reliability, ect. which can change from day to day

(I keep a 1.0.4 install which for the most part works great

Re: Unable to save playlist with VLC-1.0.2

    Hi
I have this problem too. I can't save playlists with VLC v1.0.3.
I found a thread that says it's something to do with the GUI.

    Here:-http://omgili.com/jmp/.0rSU5LtMgxP5I...y_AikC5hguU3H8

Until there's an easy solution I'll make playlists using a text editor.

This thread's marked as SOLVED. What's the solution, upgrade to v1.1?

    My solution, step by step.

First, I added the getdeb apps sources

    # getdeb apps for VLC
Go to System-Administration-Software Sources, Third-Party Software tab, Add:
    Code:
    deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu karmic-getdeb apps
Add the repository GPG key, open a terminal window and type:
    Code:
    wget -q -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
Next, Using Synaptic, I installed VLC-1.0.4.

Then I installed qt4-qtconfig. I think I used the command:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install qt4-qtconfig
You can do this with synaptic as well.

Finally, I went to System -> Preferences -> Qt 4 Settings and for the gui, I picked Cleanlooks, saved and exited.

I launched vlc and all my gripes were fixed.

Re: Unable to save playlist with VLC-1.0.2

    YES!

I am still running v1.0.3. Not upgraded to v1.0.4.

But your other instructions solved it. Playlist saved OK.

When I saw the instruction in post #2 above, I thought it was some setting needed in VLC.

    Thanks a lot.=D>

    Thanks again fancypiper.
I may upgrade to v1.0.4 later using your instructions.
