    is there a way to hide nautilus menubar(file, edit...etc)?

    I doubt it. You can swithc off the various tool bars, but I don't think you can hide the main menus.

    Nautilus uses the Gnome settings for customizing much of the appearance. The available control of menus is in the Interface Tab of the Appearance Preferences. What you want isn't there. You can get rid of the icons but not the text menus.
