I recently installed Ubuntu in on my computer but my wife is wanting something like Microsoft Money or Quicken to manage her money, both business and personal-wise. I already downloaded Gnucash but I was wondering if anyone would suggest anything else for something similar to Money or Quicken. Thanks.

Re: Quicken or Money alternative to Linux?
Moneydance is nice. Although it is not free, for about $30 you can run it on 3 different platforms. Mac, Win, Linux.

Re: Quicken or Money alternative to Linux?
I prefer KMyMoney, it works in Gnome without a problem (has to install a few KDE libraries, of course).
Also there is GNUCash, although I don't care much for it. Both are free and in the repos. |

Re: Quicken or Money alternative to Linux?
I should have read closer, you already tried GNUCash.
If she likes MSMoney she'll probably be ok with KMyMoney, I haven't done anything more adavnced than tracking my checkbook, but it looks to be capable of anything Money can do, and it has about the same feel, interface-wise. |

Re: Quicken or Money alternative to Linux?
Tried them all above. Moneydance is the way to go IMHO. It's proprietary, but it only cost about $30. I found it much easier to create reports with Moneydance. It also has some nice plugins you can download and add at no additional cost. After using Quicken for many, many years Moneydance was much more what I was use to.

Wow, Moneydance is what I need. I've been using Microsoft Money for years now, and this thing can import my profile! Awesome!

Re: Quicken or Money alternative to Linux?
I've never used anything before this tax season, then I switched to GNUCash. I found it to be pretty good. Its the only complex Gnome application with an adequate online manual IMHO. I'm not bothering to evaluate the competition, because I'm satisfied so far.

Re: Quicken or Money alternative to Linux?
I tried Grisbi and gnucash, after using MS money for years. It has been actually very difficult to me work in either of the program. I had difficulty in reconciling accounts in Grisbi in the accounts imported from MS Money. Gnucash made so many accounts after I imported the files from MS Money that it pretty much made a labyrinth of accounts for me
I have to reboot to be able to use MS Money. |

Re: Quicken or Money alternative to Linux?
I tried to download GNUCash and was offered an alternative Grisbi program. When i went to www.grisbi.org/ to read about it, I got a blank page. When i tried www.grisbi.com/ I found that it is being offered for sale. Is grisbi still viable?

Sorry, I tried to get GNUCash using the add/delete applet for 6.06 Dapper Drake.
