I have trouble using the GIMP. Play around with it trying to learn. But, I really like what you got there.

Choose rectangle tool, choose round corners, put the corners to about 20 pixel.
Make a layer, draw out the rectangle, goto edit, then stroke path. About 2 pixels.
Make a newer layer, fill it. Then adjust both layers Opacity down till it looks like glass with brighter edge.
You can also use a gradient tool much like I did on the avatars to add contour and contrast on the 2nd step.
Cheers,

Click on the Rectangle Select Tool in the upper-left of the Toolbox to activate it. With the mouse, drag from two opposite corners of where you want your "transparent bar".
Perform a "Select->Rounded Rectangle" to round the corners of the highlighted region.
Open the "Filters->Light & Shadow->Drop Shadow..." dialog and change the X and Y offset values to "0". Click "OK".
OPTIONAL: Perform a "Filters->Decor->Bevel" with the default settings.

I'm lazy, all I do is use the eraser tool with an opacity of like, 40-60% or something and run that over the image!
There are probably neater ways to do it though... heh![]()
