    Crystal Eye web cam woes

I have an Acer Aspire 7720G laptop wigh an Crystal eye webcam running the latest Ubuntu
    9.1.

I have been trying with out success except for 5 seconds just now in "Cheese" to get the webcam to function. I should add it is a good quality cam and performed very well in Vista.

    Any help appreciated.

    Regards

    Pete

The attached file shows the pic of the cheese screen that I am seeing.

After a reboot it worked for literally one second then froze up. On restarting Cheese the attachment shows the view.

I should add I have been through the sticky and used the copy and paste codes into the command line and still am having no joy.

    Regards

    Update.

Just tried it in guvcview and it ran for about ten seconds then froze up. The proggy is not responding to the close command either.

    Any suggestions anyone?
