    therenamer

    Hi,

Im a new user to ubuntu after years of using windows as my main os. Im very pleased with ubuntu and will be staying as my main os but im missing a couple of programs that i cant seem to find a replacement for.

First is a newsgroup binary downloader that also checks and repairs via par files then extracts the downloaded files. I was using grabit

Second is a file renamer that goes off to online databases and renames them according to your prefered format, this tool was brilliant and keeps my files in good order to use with XbMC. Its called therenamer.

I do have xp and win7 setup on virtual box but would like to use some linux software really .
Any suggestions are most welcome, thanks

    Re: therenamer

I just setup TheRenamer in Ubuntu using WINE.
I had to use winetricks to install flash first, though.
The interface is a little glitchy, but it works (and Im sure that can be sorted).

You don't mention what version of grabit you're trying to get working gut here's a link to winehq that might resolve the issue
Here's some alternatives that run native in linux.
    Hellanzb
    Sabnzbd
    Klibido
    Pan
All of these should be available through synaptic or sudo apt-get

    I'm not sure on renamer

I found Filebot (java app) to be a nice alternative

    This is what you need:
SortTV: Sort TV episodes, movies, and music into directories for xbmc
