Hehe. Nothing to apologise for. =) But I always think it looks good for two people to give the same/similar advice - makes it look like good advice! And also makes me think that I'm not talking rubbish.Also felt like I had to reiterate some of what you said just as a check.
To the OP: not sure what can cause that. Hardware fault? Non-powered USB port? Not sure, but it is odd.
