    Post Screen Resolution Help

I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my hp pavilion dv6000 as a virus completely destroyed my hard drive (windows). When i installed, the resolution was set to 800x600. My monitor can run 1280x800 at 60hz, but when i went system >preferences >display, it would only allow me to use 800x600 0r 640x480. I tried using the terminal and doing xrandr -s 1280x800, as well as xrandr -s 1280x760, and pretty much all the standard res. between that and 800x600. It would say "Size 1280x800 not found in available modes" for whatever size i tried, except for 800x600 and 640x480. I really do need a larger screen size, and i dont like 9.10 because adobe flash and other programs arent yet easily supported. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome, it would appear that model has the nvidia graphics. Have you installed the nvidia drivers? You can start under system, administration, hardware drivers.
