Does gtkpod resize Album Art?

When using iTunes to add album art to an iPod it resizes the image so that it displays properly on the smaller screen and also presumably to speed the population of Coverflow.
Does gtkpod do this as well or does it put the full high res file on the iPod forcing it to resize the image itself?

Perhaps a better question would be:
How can I search the iPod for any and all image files?
This way I can see if gtkpod resizes the image, the ipod resizes it, or a secondary smaller thumbnail is created alongside the original.
