Only if you have something like an Intel graphics card. Cards by Nvidia or ATI require drivers to be installed then a restart, and when you restart on a live cd you lose everything including installed programs.

However, there is probably a way of keeping installed applications and settings with some sort of Live CD/Flash Drive combo.

one more question.. i think ubuntu looks a little blurry on my laptop..
i have an nvidia graphics card.
i have installed a graphics card driver
but still it looks blurry.. do you think i just only need to restart it?

but as u said, anything from a live cd will be gone after restarting.

im gonna install ubuntu anyway... im just a little worried that the display will stay blurry.
