Distro updates

Just a general query. When Ubuntu is released, there is a particular file which we download. However as time goes on there are a lot of updates to the same, like I remember for Koala there was an initial 110MB update and later a 70MB one. My question is do they update the initial download file, kept at Ubuntu site? Means if I download Ubuntu today, will I still have to update 280MB?

i don't think the images get updated. you'll have to download the updates.
