If you want to write a set instructions for 32-bit Firefox users on 64-bit Ubuntu, I'll be glad to include it in this guide.
i have the info on this on the ubuntuzilla faq page, here specifically:
    http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawik...illa_FAQ#Flash

Feel free to use/link to if you want.

suggest you also link to the instructions for running 32bit flash with 32bit firefox
Get the 32-bit version of libflashplayer.so and put it in /usr/lib32. Double-check that it's actually the 32-bit version, i.e.:
    Code:
    file /usr/lib32/libflashplayer.so
I guess you may need some other lib32 packages too.

This will break 64-bit plugin. I don't feel comfortable with these instructions. Is there a way to separate the plugins?

I have not found code that looks for Firefox plugins in /usr/lib32. Is this Ubuntuzilla specific?

I have an early Athlon64 3200+ from 2004 (without lahf_lm instruction) and flashplugin v 10.0.42.34 still requires the flashplugin-lahf-fix.so detailed in Illegal Instruction link.

If anyone has issues with full screen mode popping back to actual size (like on Hulu), check your screensaver and power management settings (uncheck "Activate screensaver when computer is idle" and put sliders to the right). My Visual Effects are set to none.

i don't have any 64bit machines to look at... if /usr/lib32 exists, as temujin says, then that may be it. otherwise, no. if the latter is the case, then the user just has to decide whether he wants to run the mozilla build with flash, or the ubuntu repos build with flash.

Re: Adobe Flash install information for AMD64 (December 2009 update)

I have 3.5.6 firefox install which I believe is the 64bit version and when I go to "About" in the help tab I get this:

    Code:
    Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6
I used Ubuntuzilla to get newest 64 bit version.

When I downloaded and execute the script to install the flash player it executes in terminal and closes, but when I restarted Firefox and check "about : plugins" I have none? And obviously flash doesn't work.. any ideas?

Ubuntuzilla provides only 32-bit version. Use 32-bit flash with this version of Firefox. Instructions from Ubuntuzilla.

If you want 64-bit version of Firefox, see here.

Ok, thanks. I thought I had the 64 bit version of firefox... I think that originally I had 64 bit flash on 32 bit firefox which caused my flash videos to freeze and go gray. I guess I'll just install 32 bit flash and hope for the best.
