The original Windows CE 6 operating system installer is now available over at the new Bento Linux site where most of the information from this thread is being documented at, and where new information is also being posted.

    Windows CE 6 OS download:

Android 1.5 OS download is also now available at:

Also, a lengthy 40 minute disassembly video has been posted at:

Unhappy Re: Linux on 7" mini netbook ARM-VT8500 ?

    hello
I have this problem. I have uploaded into the netbook new firmware from the site http://194.150.201.35/cnmlifestyle/c...7SErestore.htm
and now he can not even turn on. Before going but go but had some problems but I do not. Before I displayed this during boot:
    Version 1.90
    Hardware Version 3.0
    CPU: ARM 926EJ-S 248 MHz
    Release: SV122
    RAM: 128 M
    Video decoder: 1
Now, after I just flashnutí probliknnou diodes on Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock, and then nothing happens next. I think it may be corrupted boot loader. If someone had the boot loader so I would be grateful for it. Thank you for your advice and the boot loader ... I'm here writing nonsense, so I translated via Google

Its the debian lenny lxde mentioned earlier in this thread. I think it will only install the programs if I'm connected to ethernet, unless I did something wrong

Ok cause if you go with puppy or dsl you'll probably be able to get it rather easily

Re: Linux on 7" mini netbook ARM-VT8500 ?

Hi, introducing myself My nick is Fusin, and I'm tuxing since SLS 0.99 pl6. Long ago.
My actual goals are Vektor Linux on an old IBM ThinkPad 570E and I try to install Android on an 7" Anika NetBook with WinCE5 which was a false delivery from China. (I ordered a German one, and they sended a french one). In case of these little netbooks, I have 'strange' feelings. The WinCE 'should' be like an PDA (similar to Jornada 720) but it isn't. Also it is not realy a Subnote like they often state. I buyed a second one, this time with WinCE 6 (US keayboard layout) which is useable as mini subnote. I probably let WinCE6 on that one.
    So now back to Android
I downloaded the file mentioned in a post here earlier. Copied to an SD, and called the 'bios' for update..
Hint: the password is not always ZTK, in case of a french keyboard (like mine) you must use wtk. It's the position of the char that is important, not the printing on the keys Also i used no-caps.
My problem now is: formating XIP- and Flash2 disk succeeded. Formating nand is hanging since 2 hours..
Display on screen say 'Format Nand disk starting...' and it seem frozen.
Any hint what I can do??
    Thanks in advance..

Re: Linux on 7" mini netbook ARM-VT8500 ?

    Hi Guys,
I am loving using Debian on my wm8505 netbook, but at the moment am only connecting through ethernet. I have managed to use wpa_supplicant, and somehow managed to connect to my home wifi network. What I really wanted was to be able to use a gui to get online, for instance with wpa_gui. I need to be able to connect to my uni wifi, which is primarily where I'll be using this. I wanted someone to give me a step by step guide on setting up a wifi gui that lets me connect at home and uni. I need a beginners guide, im not that linux savvy! When I set up wpa_supplicant, I did extensive google searching, and thats how I managed to do it, but I could not get the wpa_gui to work. I think there was a problem with file paths/locations. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Moblo

Re: Linux on 7" mini netbook ARM-VT8500 ?

    Hello!

i have an wm8505 netbook and i would like to know if i can put android using this:

    http://bento-linux.org/wiki/vt8505/wm8505/android

I am very worried because if i want to come back to win ce 6.0, could i do it without problems or it would be very difficult to go back to win?

    Thank you!

Smile Re: Linux on 7" mini netbook ARM-VT8500 ?

Hello everyone! I have bought a netbook that has a VT8500 300MHz ARM926EJ-S processor (the one that you've been discussing about) that comes with Windows CE.

I think its corresponding site is the following one:
    http://www.arm.com/products/processo...rm9/arm926.php

There it says "The ARM926EJ-S processor features an MMU, allowing for the use of fully featured OS such as Linux, Windows CE, and Symbian."

I have read several pages of this thread but I don't know about programming so it can get really difficult for me, have you been able to install any Linux distro in this netbook? If so, it would be great if you tell me which one and how can I install it.

    Thanks in advance!
    Good bye
