Well, I think with clockspeed as only evidence, it can be VT8500, VM8505 or anyka - maybe even something else?
The main thing: for the first time for me, I'm also willing to give something (to the opensource community) to support the development of VM8505 (VT8500) linux distro.
This is a good way to show the gratitude and maybe even to motivate a little to do this.
So, waiting for linux X11 and paypal address

Hello Forum,
Yes, it is a collective strengh that could perhaps spur
the Linux distro for vt8500 and variants....further.
After looking at all....it simply occurred to me that
it is WAY out of my depth as a computing hobby person...
in that sense it would be good if these types of people
could help out in some added way...
all i can say is i would pay $ for the proper Linux distro
for the vt8500 when it is X11 based and performs in a similar
fashion to any Linux distro...(perhaps a user choice payment amount.....paypal.... when buying it on it's website)
Hope this message is not unhelpful...somehow

This link HERE has a contact us button that is different from wonder medias main site i sent a request to buy some and for the data sheet for wm8505
EasyPC Linux 0.2 has been released and it comes with X11. It still has many issues though. The standard window manager is WindowMaker, but I have also included twm if one wants to be classic. As a plus, I uploaded the kernel "source code" (but a lot of the drivers which make the netbook work are by VIA and are in object-format only, meaning they are closed source ) with which you can build a new kernel and the toolchain to use with the sources.
Here is my page: http://tails92.sepwich.com/easypc_linux
There is no support for the WM8505 yet, only for the VT8500. I think starting a port from scratch is needed, as almost surely VIA won't be giving any help.
Other programs I included are XPaint, NetSurf (graphical web browser) and xv.
The X server used is Xfbdev with some modifications by me to get it to "be" 800x480 while on a 1024x768 framebuffer. In this way it's like it is 800x480 to the user, but the framebuffer is always 1024x768 to the hardware, but just the first 800 and 480 pixels in the two directions are used for the X server.
Xnest and Xvfb were also included.

The Polish load doesn't work for my '7" mini netbook e/w VIA ARM-VT8500. The sound works but as soon as it boots the screen goes dark.
