How can I use windows programs and play games like call of duty world at war. Yes I have tried wine and play on linux neither work
play on linux doesn't support cod world at war. I do not feel like buying software for 69 dollars

    My computer is custom built

    asrock n68-2 mother board
250 gb hard drive ( had to send the 1tb back to seagate)

Well I dont know if COD is supported but you could check and see if cedega supports it. You will have trouble trying to play games in virtualbox. Virtualbox will work great for all windows apps you have to have. I use it to sync my zune with all the time(yes I know zune sucks but hey it was a bday present ) I used cedega for WoW and it ran it awesome. I think its like $15 up front for 3 months and $5 a month afterwards. To me that was acceptable. The fee is for the updates to the cedega engine. Well worth it imo to get away from windows.

If you want to use Windows software, sometimes the best solution is to use Windows. Wine and VirtualBox are great, but not everything will work with them.

    A dual-boot isn't hard to set up.

It does, with Linux apps. I agree with the point that Windows apps are going to run best with Windows, not Linux.

When you were setting up your virtual box, did you install windows in it? Also under Network, I usually choose Bridged Adapter works better for me. See if that works.
