Why is there no Live DVD option for Ubuntu I wonder? I mean pretty much every computer can use DVD's and yes I understand the DVD sizes are a bit larger, but it would nice to have the option.

we could have Ubuntu Live Light and Ubuntu Live Full disks. Of course the DVD could contain more software be default. I don't know just a thought....

What is the point?

A DVD image would just include LOTS and LOTS of obsolete software...that you'd need to update and download new packages for anyway.

Zackly. There is a LiveDVD, Ubuntu just doesn't put it on the download page. The only real advantage of it is if you want to have a machine offline that still has access to the Universe repo.

Because there is simply no need for it.

If you want a Live DVD you can very easily create your own with Remastersys.

I assume you saw that there is a live DVD option. It's been there for some time, I'm not sure how long because it was there when I first started looking for Ubuntu. It's not featured, but it's there.

+1 for the "whoa" - my old desktop has a 3GB hard drive and can only handle CD-ROMs. And that's after upgrading and/or replacing some of the hardware. (It came with a 1GB hard drive)
