questions about inhibiting suspend
1: i noticed that my system goes to suspend even while copying files in nautilus or burning cds. aren't those actions supposed to inhibit suspend, since they break if they are interrupted?
2: is there a command to temporarily inhibit suspend, as can be done with the inhibit panel applet? the one i tried was
Code:
gnome-screensaver-command -i
but this does not prevent suspend if i manually lock the screen afterwards. (panel applet does work, but i find it a bit ridiculous to need an applet for such a simple task)
i should add that such issues come up because i have set my power management timeouts to extremely low values, like 3 min before suspend kicks in.
As you can see from my history, i was once an enthusiastic ubuntu user. I would hereby like to assert that i no longer recommend using ubuntu to anyone. I recommend using one of the many distributions that do not include ad-/spyware by default.
