Keyboard and touchpad were not functioning after loggin in ubuntu

Hello to all ,
I am a newbie to ubuntu and i have installed it not more then a month ago

Im very happyy with its performance , just 2 days back when i was searching for softwares in software center i just found a soft of graphic effects sounds like cckm..or of that sort , i dont remember actaully its name , i have applied soe changes for blurring up windows ,mirrorring effect so on and when i restararted it ,its k untill i logged in but after i logged in the keyboard and touchpad were not responding

my laptop config is
SONY VAIO
core2 Duo
3 GB ram

and im using ubuntu latest release

could anybody help me sorting out this rather that formatting ?

Similar problem here. I have use ubuntu for a year. I am using Ubuntu 9.10 64bit currently. I help my to installl the same version on her laptop 2 days ago. Then I help her to install flash, java... She started the ubuntu this morning, the problem occur. The keyboard and touchpad are not responding, however, the external mouse is working.

The package that mvisma should be 'ccsm'. However, the laptop does not have this package.
