Audio settings shared across users

Hi,

I'm experiencing a rather annoying issue with audio settings in Ubuntu 9.10.
Every time a user changes the audio settings, all the other users (when they log on later on) have the same settings as the last user which saved them.

I think this is not correct (eg. each user should have his/her own audio settings saved).
How can I fix this?

I'm using ubuntu 9.10 64-bit.
