Angry I got them 800x600 blues

    Okay.

    I have a Sony Vaio PCG-fx120
i am running Ubuntu 8.04 it works, my wifi works (thank humanity), however the "monitor" is stuck in 800X600 when 1024X786 is fully possible, hardware wise. i callout to the Ubuntu Sages, does anyone have any fixes and can you link me to a step by step?

    The helpless techno-weenie,

I had this issue too when I tried 9.04. Does using 9.10 resolve this issue? I'd like to run Ubuntu on this LT, but 800x600 is unacceptable.

    Hello.

Some more info would be nice.
    like:
Please post the Output of "lspci"
and maybe if 9.10 solves this.

is the resolution simply low or is HW acceleration unvavailable aswell?

Did you do a clean install? I have found that sometimes after an upgrade the graphical interface (X11, gdm,...don't ask me what part exactly) gets shot to hell for some reason and a clean install was the fastest way to fix it.

    greetings
