    9.10 on IBM x3650 M2

    Heyas All,

Having a real hassle getting 9.10 on this server. Never occurred to me to check the RAID drivers for compatibility. Moron moment, I guess. Anyway, has anyone had success in getting 9.10 on one of these servers? Specifically, it's a x3650 M2 7947-ac1.
The only reference I can find to this is here:
    http://blog.fastmail.fm/2009/10/19/i...-debianubuntu/
but they don't work. I've never tried compiling drivers for a drive adapter, how challenging is it? IBM has the source.

    Ideas?
    Thanks,
    VTK

If I remember correctly isn't that a fakeRAID on that server (wanna-be HW Raid)?

You may just try a software raid:

...that's the kicker isn't it, tried this in the past (couple years ago) and ran into similar issue not being able to get Ubuntu Server Ed to install. Had to use CentOS, hmmm, somehow either binary blob kernel mod or backported driver installed in kernel, no issues recognized everything. Not too mention, don't expect much support from IBM. If it ain't running MSWinServer, RHEL, or SLES than they're right out. Kicker #2: I think the only IBM server that is certified w/ Ubuntu (8.10 or 9.04) is some 1u rack mount dealie that basically has a PC mobo in it with add'l PS.
