Nevermind. I'm just going to reinstall...too much of a pain in the ***.
I was having trouble reinstalling 9.04, then I realized it was installing it to the SD card, creating 2 versions of Ubuntu on the Starling. Once I pulled the SD out, the install finally worked fine. I finally have wireless networking again.
Sorry to come so late to the party.
I had the same thing happen when I tried to upgrade some weeks ago. I waited until I thought all the issues were solved, but my system is apparently hosed and I didn't have time to work on it. I just put my old Mac back in service for this semester and limped along.
I am getting ready to try what you suggest--reinstall from a thumb drive. Any other details or warnings you can supply? I am not very knowledgeable on Linux issues yet. (But I LOVE my Starling and want it back!!!)
Thanks!
