How do you set up an HP dv6t laptop for a one time boot off of the cd?

Take the CD out when you reboot, like it tells you to do.

if you mean how to boot up from a cd, if it doesn't just start from it when you put the cd in and restart , then you will have to go into the bios and set it to boot the cd first then the hd ....... not sure how to get into bios on that model, it usually says as it starts to boot (like F1 or some other key to hold down while booting )

    Re: one time boot

I think my real question is what key to press at boot. On my Dell I simply hit F12 and it gives me a choice of drives to boot off of once, then it goes back to the HD boot.

I have to boot my cousins new HP dv6t off a live cd and I don't know the procedure. On my old HP "esc" gave me a list of drives for a one time boot. I think it's more complicated now, but maybe default looks for a cd first.

    Thanks
