Question Change profile picture (GDM2) in Xubuntu Karmic

    Hello,

I know this is a quite stupid question but I cannot find the solution.
I would like to change the user picture that is displayed when GDM is loaded.
I read that for Ubuntu you only need to go in System/aboutMe. In xfce I don't have this menu.

    Thank you for the replies.

P.S. I think believe that also put a jpg somewhere like ~/.profilepicturegdm2... would work but I don't know the right directory in this case.

It sounds so easy, just put a jpg file named ".face" in your home directory.

Trouble is, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't!
Why is this so troublesome? Anybody have the absolute lowdown
    alwaysgonnawork answer?

why does changing the user profile picture have to be so user unfriendly? Its just a profile picture...

Exclamation Re: Change profile picture (GDM2) in Xubuntu Karmic

I to use Xubuntu 10.04 lucid xfce with a few gnome I got ubuntu tweak and got it to change my back ground screen at login. But yet to change the logo above user switcher/login ... The Distro logo i believe. I also wanted to change my user account photo but yet to stumble across the soluntion to change these for more customization of distro.

I am not sure why but i have tried these things and to no avail have not gain any progress.

    1. make file *size=64x64* named .face placed in to home folder.

    2. Used ubuntu tweak to change the icon.

    3. Placed picture in usr/share/pixmaps/faces

    4. I even installed "About Myself" hoping that it could be that easy...

    5. I also have googled my but off tring to find a solution....

So as you see I have tried and treid but nothing seems to work.... I don't know if it is xfce causeing this issue or gdm. all i know is that it should be pretty simple to do but has to be a little complicated to make you work for it....... so with that any help on this topic would be great........

    Thanks... Your pal in openSource.
