    9.10 + old kernel + sound

    Hi folks!

I had to downgrade karmic to kernel 2.6.28-15 because my wireless refused to work on the new kernel.

However, now my sound doesn't work on the old kernel, and this seems to be related to how karmic relies on 2.6.31 features to play sound properly.

Is there anyway to enable sound on 9.10 using kernel 2.6.28?

I don't mind getting rid of pulse audio...

I'd really like to know this too. The new kernel has a conflict with my Ethernet controller.

    Re: 9.10 + old kernel + sound

Well, I added the software sources for Jaunty back, and reinstalled the ALSA drivers via the "module-assistant" utility. I was able to build and install these successfully, but alas after rebooting my USB sound device is still not properly detected according to the Sound Preferences GUI.

Any ideas on how I can restore my USB sound support that works in the 2.6.30+ kernels into my 2.6.28 kernel in Karmic?
