My cpufreq was not activate by default, and researching I found this doc
I could load the frequency driver, but I couldn't the CPU policy governor because don't exist.
I am running ubuntu 9.10 i386 on HP/Compaq nx9600
$ dmesg | grep ubuntu

$ lsmod | grep p4

available frequency steps: 375 MHz, 750 MHz, 1.13 GHz, 1.50 GHz, 1.88 GHz, 2.25 GHz, 2.63 GHz, 3.00 GHz
available cpufreq governors: conservative, ondemand, userspace, powersave, performance
current policy: frequency should be within 375 MHz and 3.00 GHz.
The governor "performance" may decide which speed to use
within this range.
current CPU frequency is 3.00 GHz.

$ sudo modprobe cpufreq_conservative

The cpu policy governor modules are not present in my system, and don't know how add them. Thanks in advance.
