    SPDIF on Dell D620 thru D-port not working

    Hi,

    I had this problem since a while and hoped that it would have been solved by now:

    I have a Dell Latitude D620 running up-to-date 9.10 Kubuntu. I have a port replicator that has an SPDIF coaxial port, which I connect to my amp. But I dont get digital sound...

    Has anyone with this setup succeeded? If only someone with some more linux experience could have a look at this... Some people would be very happy.

    I have exactly the same laptop D620 (Sigmatel STAC9200) connected through D-port and exactly the same problem - no signal via spdif.
    I tried almost everything I was able to find via Google on Ubuntu 9.10 and Fedora 12: .asoundrc, alsamixer, updated ALSA to the latest 1.0.22.1, etc. etc.
    Nothing works by now...
    I'm getting analog audio (internal speakers) without problems but not digital via spdif!


    Under Windows XP SP3 everything is working just fine. AC3/DTS bitstream is being forwarded to the external decoder.

    hey guys,
    i've been digging thru the internet for a solution. i've found something very very interesting on the dell community forums. its about connecting your the s-video cable port to 75 ohm resistance device as well. seemingly it gives the ability to output the spdif output...anyhow, here's the thread, if u verify it, let me know, mate)
