Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Series Development

Even less success here. After making the edit, I still get no response from the tablet at all. /var/log/messages has this:

    Code:
    Nov 12 22:59:08 Childers kernel: [ 155.376610] input: Wacom Bamboo P&T 4x5 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb6/6-2/6-2:1.1/input/input14
But xinput --list --short is this:
    Code:
    "Virtual core pointer" id=0 [XPointer]
    "Virtual core keyboard" id=1 [XKeyboard]
    "Sleep Button" id=2 [XExtensionKeyboard]
    "Video Bus" id=3 [XExtensionKeyboard]
    "Power Button" id=4 [XExtensionKeyboard]
"AT Translated Set 2 keyboard" id=5 [XExtensionKeyboard]
"DELL DELL USB Keyboard" id=6 [XExtensionKeyboard]
    "Foxlink Webcam" id=7 [XExtensionKeyboard]
"Macintosh mouse button emulation" id=8 [XExtensionPointer]
"ImExPS/2 Generic Explorer Mouse" id=9 [XExtensionPointer]
"Logitech Optical USB Mouse" id=10 [XExtensionPointer]
    "Wacom Bamboo P&T 4x5" id=11 [XExtensionPointer]
    No stylus or eraser mentioned.

Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Series Development

I have hardware issues. My tablet does not have touch on my son's Vista machine either! Bummer!! Back to the store for another one.

Thx Marek_online. I really like 'xinput --list --short'. Really needa read man pages more often!

Haven't tried 5-3 with your code change Ayuthia. I'll do that now and report back with an EDIT in this post.

    EDIT: posted below instead

kgingeri - Sorry to catch you while testing but I wanted to send out a patch before I head out for a meeting.

I have updated the patch files. Can we try it without the fdi.patch for this one and see if we can get any connection with the tablet? If you can't then add the fdi.patch and recompile.

I have added the eraser and I also added some debug statements. I think that we are running into the 0x80 code issues again where the pen loses contact.

The patches are found at the first post.

No prob. I did test thought and gather results so for what they are worth, they are attached

    I'll redo - without the fdi.patch

EDIT/UPDATE: Same results. Did not patch the 10-linuxwacom.fdi file and removed the previous before my 'make install'. Did get the unpatched one in /usr/share/... but still nothing in Xorg.0.log - tablet is dead, nothing

Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Series Development

Can someone try testing out the patch in the first post again? I incorporated the int variables together because I ran into issues with that format in other kernel modules. I have also commented out the data information for the time being just to make sure it is not causing the crash.

Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch Series Development

    Will do Ayuthia.

I also just returned from the store with a tablet that has touch!
It was definitely a hardware issue as it works fine on my Mac.

Ah - back in the game to win

EDIT/UPDATE: Ok this is what I am getting in Xorg.0.log...

    Code:

I did patch and install the 10-linuxwacom.fdi this time, right?

Oh - I didn't actually reboot. I will try that and report back.

EDIT: Ok reboot didn't help. Here's wacom in /proc/bus/input/devices

Interesting how it configures a 'absolute touchpad' but then adds a device also - maybe the first is the stylus touchpad?

That was a quick replacement! Can you see if the wacom kernel module is not repeatedly trying to reload in /var/log/messages? Thanks.

Ha - I'm getting good at this
