[SOLVED] Static with Pangolin Mic

I have a Pangolin and the internal mic is not working. When I use the sound recorder all I get is static. With Google calls or video chats the person on the other end can't hear me. I have Ubuntu 9.10 installed and I have the System76 drivers installed. The mic never worked under 8.10 or 9.04 either but I never bothered trying to get it to work.

In my sound preferences the input volume is up and the mic is not muted. I have opened the alsamixer and messed with the mic levels there but still no luck. I am not sure what else I can try.
