Touchpad not working (Aspire One AO751h)

The touchpad worked fine out of the box in Kubuntu 9.04, but it doesn't do anything in Kubuntu 9.10 -- doesn't work in the installer either, I had to attach a mouse to do a reinstall (which didn't help the touchpad problem, it still doesn't work).

Installed gsynaptics and it shows the touchpad enabled even though it isn't doing anything.

Oddly, there doesn't seem to be an /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Could it be somewhere else?

    Any suggestions?

Okay, by installing the psb drivers I got the touchpad working -- though it'd be nice to be able to use the touchpad with the VESA driver like in 9.04.
