Red face Ubuntu 9.10 - Wireless Connects and Disconnects

    Hello All,

For some reason since the upgrade to .10 my wireless connection will connect and disconnect at regular intervals for no apparent reason. I can confirm this was working without fault before the upgrade.

Here's a snippet from my syslog:

Hi--hate to just post a "me to", but it happens to me and is really irritating. Hoping that someone might know what is going on.

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 - Wireless Connects and Disconnects

Having the same problem with Network Manager. I went ahead and installed wicd instead and it seems to be doing much better. I would however like to know what it broken with Network Manager though (or what is making it disconnect so much).

Anyways here is how I did it:

System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager
    Search for: wicd
Mark for installation. It will also uninstall Network Manager
Once everything is installed restart and you should be good to go.
Note that installing Network Manager should remove wicd if the thing ever gets fixed.

Hi, have the same problem here on my ASUS 1005HA. Looks like I have this problem only when working as admin. When working as normal user I don't have this problem.
Probably it has something to do with the energy safe settings.

    Best regards

I had the same problem, all fixed with installation of wicd.

Specs: Netgear WG311v3, ndiswrapper, Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit

And another "me too" on a Toshiba Satellite. Just installed 9.10 as dual boot a few days ago & was disappointed to have to go back to Vista for decent wireless support -- embarassing.

I'll try the wicd suggestion, but why no "official" response from 9.10?

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 - Wireless Connects and Disconnects

im not having that problem exactly, on WICD. so perhaps that may help, but what i AM noticing using WICD is that it is unable to automatically connect. upon login, i have to cancel the connection attempt, attempt, cancel, and attempt a 3rd time before it can obtain an IP. never had this problem before, and other devices on the network are not suffering from connection issues.
