    Line-in Playback Problem

    Hi to all!
I installed ubuntu 9.10 on my acer 4520 laptop and its running smoothly. With slight tweaks, microphone and line-in works properly, no problems at all.

But, I just want to know if someone knows how to do line-in playback. It's like if a sound is comming in at the line-in, it automatically plays that sound on the speaker. It's like real time recording. This helps me in recording, its because I could automatically hear what I'm recording while I am recording.

This could also makes my laptop as an amplifier for electric guitar. I did this on windows 7 by only changing the settings, but I'm hoping I could also do this with the new ubuntu 9.10.

If you know any packages or tweaks please let me know. Thanks for your help in advance!

    Ubuntu really rocks!

You may try looking into Pulse Audio. This allows you to create virtual channels, control volume on an application basis (rather than system-wide basis), and move audio input and output streams around.
