How to get video working afte nvidia card has died?

Hi. Nvidia card is dead so have switched over to the onboard card (via I think). But cannot get to desktop and there is no longer a boot menu to get to safemode.

1) How do I bring up the boot menu with safemode and memtest?

2) How do I let karmic know I am now using unboard and not nvidia card any longer.
