    Question Karmic Upgrade

Just upgraded from within Jaunty. There is no Firefox quick launch within top bar. Also Jaunty used to recognize both laptop batteries, does Karmic have this capability? I guess it will take time to bed down the new system.

    Exclamation Re: Karmic Upgrade

    Hardy Heron: Random kernel panic.

Intrepid Ibex: Randomly booted to blank screen.

Jaunty: Ran stable but did not hibernate or sleep (induced kernel panic.)

Karmic: Hibernates & sleeps fine! Linux has finally arrived!!!

Great success on my older hardware, each version improving over the former. Many thanks!

Just drag items from the menu system to the top bar (panel). I think that's what you mean? So just pull down the Applications menu, then the Internet menu, highlight the Firefox entry, and holding down the left mouse button.. simply drag it up to the panel. hth

After my upgrade the button was still there but the icon was gone so it looked like the button itself was gone. Right click on the area where the button was & choose properties. Then click on the box where it says Icon. A file chooser dialog will appear. I found an icon in /usr/share/firefox/icons.

Maybe I assumed too much. Are you running Ubuntu, as opposed to Kubuntu, Xbuntu, etc.?

That drag and drop thing should work in Gnome.. which is to say Ubuntu.

Yeah, I'm blind.. sorry.. it's right there to the left of your post!

There's a program in Xubuntu that I can't recall the name of.. you use it to locate programs which you then drag to the panel. It's been to long since I've tried Xubuntu, so we'll hope someone will be along who remembers the details.
