9.10 - e1000e: eth0 NIC Link is Down

Hi

I have just installed Ubuntu 9.10 from scratch on my Thinkpad t61, and having problems with the ethernet adapter - Intel PRO/1000.

During the installation language package etc. was downloaded through the ethernet adapter, but after the installation it wont work.

/var/log/messsage says:

And keep saying this. A number of devices is on the same switch, and working perfectly.

Does anyone else see this?

Also dmesg shows this error.

Hi,

I have the same problem too. While checking /var/log/messages eth0 will be seen link UP for a few seconds and then link will be DOWN. This repeats. Not able to connect.

No errors in dmesg and mii-tool eth0 will give the same output as link OK for a while and then DOWN.

tried bring eth0 UP many times but won't work. I have a sony vaio and ubuntu 9.10. Any thoughts would be higly appreciated. Thanks!
