Question Is there a PSP emulator for Ubuntu ?

Is there a PSP emulator that works on linux of in WIne ?
I have tried these 2 things on this link http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/psp/ but both not working, one is working through wine but cant run any roms and the other not working on wine at all.

As far as I know, the only working PSP Emulator is the one that is distributed for game testing along with the Sony Development Package - which you have to be a Sony licensed game developer to get hold of.

I don't even believe there are even any fully workable PSP Emulators out at all; let alone for linux. There are a couple for windows I believe, but they are in early testing stages and are not fully functional.

The available emulators can only play homebrew, no official games. I don't think this will chance anytime soon

Agreed. I'd wait until Sony comes out with it's next hand-held gaming system (not PSP variants like the PSP GO)before we see any chances of official games working.I figure it's going to take a long while because of the difficulty to fully the code the project and it's legality(and potential for lawsuits).

In case of the PSP there is the additional difficulty of having some blocks for cryptography (and DSP). If Sony has some sense those arent documented even for developers.
homebrew doesnt use those blocks, but games do. And reversing them is likely impossible, so its either hoping for leaked docs or having to decrypt (on a real PSP) and patch all games before thinking about emulating them.

    There are several:

    http://code.google.com/p/jpcsp/ Cross platform
    http://code.google.com/p/emu-sam/ Windows (Use wine!)

    http://code.google.com/p/pspplayer/
    http://code.google.com/p/pcsp/
    http://code.google.com/p/mfzpsp/

I haven't tried the last three, but the first two are pretty decent. Npl was correct, homebrew (better than pretty much all the commercial games out) work on the emulators available, but because those commercial games are so much different emulation is slow work.

There are some games that will however, some like pspplayer can do a couple of them. I am a homebrew developer so I could be biased, but playing them in an emulator isn't much fun!

Go install custom firmware and enjoy some quality homebrew!
