Need a link for something

I'm currently writing an essay on free and open source software.

Anyway long story short, newer Ubuntu versions are forked from the unstable Debian repository, correct? So then 9.10 is not based off of the code in 9.04, but rather whatever version is in the unstable Debian repository.

What I need though is just a source that confirms this, such as an article from a Linux site, or just something that is legitimately citable.

No, Wikipedia is not a legitimate source, sadly enough.

Yeah of course I tried that. The only thing is that I don't know exactly what keywords to search since what I'm looking for is really specific.
