Hey Guys,

In my search for internet anonymity, i've tried TOR w/privoxy and the i2p network. While I am not new to ubuntu, I am a fairly entry level user. I was able to get i2p set-up fairly easily on my machine, open the proper firewall ports and forward the proper ports on my router.

Anyway, maybe some of the experts can chime in but it seems to me through standard browsing (and I have no hard data to support this) but as long as there are a fair amount of user on the i2p network, it runs as fast if not faster than TOR.

Here is the homepage:

Here is the wiki for those interested:

Basically, from what I understand TOR routes everyone through a "central" proxy, while i2p routes everyone through each other (peer proxies, i guess). It works great when there are a fair amount of user connected.

As far as torrents go, there is a bit of a dilema. The i2p must use its own set of torrents and there are some plugins setup for popular torrent apps, but its not hugely popular right now.

Anyway, I just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts were and maybe help get the word out. Also, I would love to write a how to, but I don't think I have the know-how to do that but if someone wants help or wants help writing a howto I would love to get involved.
