Could somebody give a hint or a tip?

did you use ubuntuzilla to install, or manually download seamonkey and extract etc? if not ubuntuzilla, then you're in the wrong section of the forum.

    ok, new .debs to test

now i'm just using /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins which should work fine on currently supported ubuntu versions.

please give these a try. would like to see how this pans out on hardy-karmic, as far as actual availability of plugins after install.

    Works great:

    Extracting archive

    Using plugin path: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

    Linking plugins

    Linking dictionaries

    Linking launcher to new Firefox

    Adding `local diversion of /usr/bin/firefox to /usr/bin/firefox.ubuntu'
    Adding `local diversion of /usr/bin/mozilla-firefox to /usr/bin/mozilla-firefox.ubuntu'

The new Firefox version 3.5.4 has been installed successfully.

Would you like to set up automatic update checking for the official Mozilla build of Firefox (recommended)? This feature will regularly check for updates to Firefox, and put up a small unobtrusive notification message with update information, when a new release is available. [y/n]
    Please enter 'y' or 'n': y
Updater successfully installed to your crontab. Try 'crontab -l' to see your new crontab, 'crontab -e' if you decide to edit it.

BTW I began by removing the Mozilla builds of FF and Seamonkey:

    ubuntuzilla.py -a remove -p firefox
    ubuntuzilla.py -a remove -p seamonkey

    And purging the prior Ubuntuzilla.

I'll check out Seamonkey again now.

    Seamonkey worked fine also:

If you have the repositories version of Firefox installed, you can choose to link all the Firefox plugins to your Seamonkey install. Would you like to do that? [y/n]?

The new Seamonkey version 2.0 has been installed successfully.
I did both of these in Karmic, I was just wondering if I shouldn't do at least Firefox in Jaunty just to check for possible regression?????

Oh, yes, I did check to be sure the plugins actually work.
