You don't need to use the commandline for everything you know

Sometimes just a few clicks in update manager will do the job

This is my 6th release and it still is exciting. An Ubuntu release...being on the forums, IRC, its all good.

    Why?

Thousand upon thousands have contributed to Ubuntu and the whole of Linux to make this happen. It is a celebration to those people who have devoted their spare time to make this happen. I still find it amazing.
Totally! It's great to see so many great aesthetic changes and improvements, and I too agree it is a celebration of everything that has been achieved in the Linux world so far! It's getting better and more friendly with every year which is a fantastic thing to see

It is all about balance, sure you could use commandline for everything but suggesting it as the sole way of doing everyday tasks does not exactly make Linux look easy to use.

Then you don't use Ubuntu (or a Debian based distro, for that matter). You can have an Ubuntu system without update manager, but not apt.

You can actually remove apt - I would not recommend it though

Actually that reminds me of the CentOS VPS I set up a while ago, by default it came without yum (the Redhat/CentOS/Fedora version of apt) so I had to manually install it by downloading a RPM - oodles of fun

It still have a lot of bugs and design problems - no matter how good it could sound, I will not touch it for the first 2-3 months.
